Skokie Epoxy Flooring is an epoxy flooring contractor based in Skokie, IL, with more than 20 years of experience on garage, basement, commercial and industrial concrete. We grind, repair, test and coat slabs for homeowners, landlords and businesses, and we have spent those years learning why some floors last for a decade and others peel in a single winter.
The short answer is that most floor failures start below the coating. Poor preparation, moisture moving up through the slab and a product that was wrong for the room cause far more problems than color or brand, so those are the things we spend our time on before anyone talks about finishes.
Our Approach

We open every slab mechanically with a diamond grinder or a shot blaster rather than an acid etch, and we capture the dust at the machine with a vacuum instead of washing it toward a floor drain. Cracks, spalls and old coatings are mapped before we price the job, and moisture is tested and written into the scope before the number is final. When a slab needs repair or replacement before it should be coated, we say so plainly, even when that means a smaller job for us.
Our proposals list the product line, how many coats go down and the finished thickness, so the floor can be checked against the paper. We explain what a coating warranty excludes before the job is sold, starting with moisture, and we time each coat to the slab temperature and dew point rather than the calendar, which means telling the owner of an unheated detached garage to wait out the deep winter.
We also work inside the rules that apply here. Illinois has no state flooring license, so we check each village’s contractor registration and insurance requirements before booking, and home jobs over the state threshold get a written contract and the Home Repair: Know Your Consumer Rights pamphlet before any grinding starts. The products we use are chosen within the Illinois VOC limits for floor and industrial coatings, which apply to the person applying them.
In basements, we coat around the sump pit, the floor drain and the overhead sewer line rather than over them, and we never sell a floor coating as waterproofing, flood protection or radon reduction. In labs, clinics, kitchens and shops, we phase the work around the hours a building has to stay open, so the business keeps running while its floor is replaced.
What We Do
We install epoxy garage floors, flake and metallic epoxy floors, polyaspartic floor coatings, basement floor epoxy and polished concrete for homes across Skokie and the surrounding suburbs. For businesses, we handle commercial and industrial epoxy flooring, ESD flooring for electronics and server rooms, and commercial kitchen flooring built for heat and washdown, along with the concrete grinding and floor repair that every one of those systems depends on. If you have a floor in mind, request a free estimate, and we will come out, look at the slab, test it and give you a written proposal you can hold us to.
